ABOUT JUDGE MISSY

In 2011, I had the honor of being appointed as the 347th District Court Judge by Governor Rick Perry. Then I was elected by Nueces County voters to continue to serve in 2012. As presiding Judge of the 347th District Court, my cases include felony criminal cases from State Jail felony cases up to First Degree felony cases including Capital Murder, all civil litigation and Family law cases. The 347th District Court was recognized as one of the first of two Courts designated a Center of Excellence in the State of Texas.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Appointed by the Governor as a member of the Texas Indigent Defense Commission which ensures quality services for the underserved members of the State of Texas. Appointed by the Chief Justice, Sharon Keller to lead the Grants and Reporting Committee as Chair of said Committee. (2019)

As an Assistant District Attorney, wrote, developed and narrated educational video entitled, What Happens to kids Who Break the Law in Texas with video introduction by then Governor George W. Bush. Presented video to children and teachers throughout the Nueces County public school system.

Received 1999 Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award from the Corpus Christi Young Lawyers.

Received 1999 Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service on behalf of Crime Victims from the Coalition of Crime Victim’s Rights.

Received 1998 Certificate of Commendation from U.S. Marine Corps Reserves for coordinating the Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program for the District and County Attorney’s office.

Founding Board Member - First book. A program which distributes books to underprivileged children in the Corpus Christi area.
